Gutters are designed to protect your home from roof and foundation damage. Gutter guards work to keep your gutters from clogging with debris so that you can avoid foundation damage once and for all. We know what you’re thinking, “I don’t have trees so I don’t need any gutter protection.” Well, that’s not entirely the case. Just because you may not have trees near your house, doesn’t mean debris and other weather obstacles will not be able to reach your gutters. To find out why gutters are necessary and still important to have on your tree-free home, keep reading.

Storm Debris. Just because you don’t have trees, doesn’t mean there aren’t any trees around you. Strong storm winds can carry more than just tree debris to your gutters. They can carry critters, nests, dirt, twigs and so much more. After a big storm, it can be challenging to get professionals to come and help clean up your lawn and gutters. Using a gutter protection system will keep that debris out completely.

Pesky Visitors. As the weather gets cooler, animals and other insects are going to look for a warm place to snuggle up. Or even worse, plant a nest. Animals like insects, Opossums, birds, squirrels, rodents, and wood-destroying animals are just the start. Using LeafFilter will seal your gutter system so those annoying critters can’t get in and make themselves comfortable. Trust us, you don’t want these critters making a home in your gutters.

Freezing Weather. Clogged gutters aren’t the only cause of foundation and gutter damage. Additionally, rainfall isn’t the only type of weather that can cause severe damage. Take note of this as the winter months are here: freezing weather can cause tremendous damage. If there’s an excessive amount of blockage in your gutters that doesn’t melt before the next round of condensation, the backed-up water can start to leak into your roof and eventually into your home. A large block of ice can also become heavy on your gutters and cause them to bend or break. Replacing your gutters is a costly home improvement that you will not want to deal with.

There are plenty of things that can cause expensive fixes to your home: pipes breaking, mold, and termites. Don’t let your gutters get added to that list. Take precautions from natural causes that could normally damage your gutter by adding gutter protectors. We have no doubts that your home and wallet will be thanking you later!
